Safety & Personal Responsibility

A Legal Disclaimer

Effective Date: July 10, 2025

The Archives is designed as a space for thoughtful movement study. While these materials provide guidance, explanation, and demonstration, each member remains responsible for how they choose to engage with the work.

Movement practice carries inherent physical risk, and every body has different needs, limitations, and experience levels. Members are encouraged to approach all material with awareness, patience, and personal responsibility.

Move at Your Own Pace

Studies within The Archives are intended to support learning and exploration rather than strict replication.

Members are encouraged to:

• progress gradually
• repeat movements slowly before increasing intensity
• rest when needed
• adapt movements to their own bodies and abilities

Not every movement will be appropriate for every person, and it is always acceptable to modify or skip material that does not feel safe.

Prior Experience

Some Studies may require a foundational level of strength, coordination, or familiarity with pole movement.

Members should only attempt movements that are appropriate for their current skill level and training background.

If you are new to pole or returning after time away, beginning with foundational movements is strongly recommended.

Physical Awareness

Before participating in movement practice, members should consider their current physical condition.

Do not participate in movement training if you are experiencing:

• injury
• severe pain
• illness that affects balance or strength
• medical conditions that limit safe participation

If you have concerns about your ability to perform physical activity, consult a qualified medical professional before practicing.

Training Environment

When practicing material from The Archives, members should ensure they are working in a safe environment.

This includes:

• using a properly installed pole
• maintaining adequate space around the pole
• using appropriate flooring or crash mats when needed
• removing obstacles from the practice area

Safe equipment and environment are essential to reducing risk.

Online Instruction Limitations

Because TheArchives is an online educational platform, instructors cannot observe each member's movement in real time.

As a result, members are responsible for making informed decisions about how they approach the material and for stopping if something feels unsafe.

Archivist members who participate in feedback sessions may receive guidance, but these interactions do not replace in-person coaching or medical advice.

Personal Responsibility

By choosing to engage with TheArchives, members acknowledge that they are voluntarily participating in physical activity and accept responsibility for their own training decisions.

Soft Steel Sanctum and The Archives are not responsible for injuries that occur as a result of practicing the material provided on this platform.
